“Richards Industries is a perennial MANNY winner, recognized ten times in the program’s 11 years. This is the ninth time Richards has received a “Best Place to Work” award.
Company officials say the reason is they’re continually striving to make the workplace better. It ranges from little things such as helping an employee apply for a car loan or helping their child hone their interview skills, to big things such as never having a layoff, a reduction in hours, or failing to pay annual profit-sharing. Key features of Richards’ culture: communication, such as regular meetings with Broxterman and other executives and a luncheon wall dedicated to company metrics; benefits that are on par with larger companies – Richards’ wellness program this year began a 3K walk/run every other week for employees to accumulate reward points; and morale – the company holds events such as an annual recognition dinner, golf outing and company picnic for employees and their families and has company-wide lunches and ice cream at work to show its appreciation.
“We work hard to help all employees reach their dreams, whether they are professional or personal. When we help an employee reach a personal milestone, this continues to build trust and loyalty,” says Cheryl Neiheisel, vice president, human resources.”
Each year, Cincy Magazine celebrates manufacturing excellence in the Tristate area with the MANNY Awards. There are five categories: best place to work, biggest breakthrough, new job creation, new product development/innovation and top growth.
